Cedar Knoll's Step-by-Step Build Process

Building a new home is exciting especially when you understand what to expect during each stage of construction. The Cedar Knoll steps below outline the process we follow.

Building Your New Home

1

CUSTOMIZE WITH YOUR SELECTIONS

Following your agreement of sale, you will want to set up your selections meeting with Design Center Coordinator Barb Berkowich. In order to get your home started we need all of your selections made which allows us to draw your plans and ultimately submit for the building permit. Therefore, let’s get your meeting scheduled right away! Please feel free to call or email Barb to review open dates and reserve your appointment. bberkowich@cedarknollbuilders.com or by cell (484) 748-4099.

    2

    EDIT YOUR PLANS

Now that your selections have been made and you have signed off on your options, Senior Designer Amy Jacobsen will add your job to her schedule and get busy drawing your plans.

      3

DESIGN MEETING TO REVIEW YOUR PLANS

Once your plans are finalized, your sales agent will call you to schedule your plan meeting. At this meeting you will review your plans making sure all of the options you have selected are drawn and noted correctly. You will also meet your site supervisor who will coordinate construction and manage the build schedule. Please make sure you thoroughly review your plans as this is the last opportunity to make changes (other than electrical provisions) before we submit for the building permit.

        4

        APPROVAL OF PLANS

Now that you have signed off on your plans, we can submit them to the township for the building permit. Once your plans have been approved, our purchasing department gets busy ordering your materials, and scheduling the trades accordingly.

          5

          READY TO DIG!

The day you have been waiting for is here! Using a backhoe and a bulldozer, the crew clears the site of rocks, debris and if needed, removes any trees necessary. Using wooden stakes to serve as a template for the foundation, the crew moves dirt and begins to prepare your foundation.

            6

KICK BACK AND ENJOY WATCHING YOUR HOUSE COME TO LIFE

Collectively known as the shell or skeleton of the house, your floor, walls and roof systems are completed during this phase of the build process. You will be amazed how quickly a field of dirt has transformed into a tangible building!

              7

              ELECTRICAL PLAN MEETING

Now that your house is framed, your site supervisor will reach out to you to schedule the electrical plan meeting. This is another opportunity to customize your home and add personal touches such as recessed lights, additional outlets, wiring for pendant lighting and more. Please pay special attention to your Construction Standards which detail the electrical provisions already included with your home. After your meeting, we will reach out to you with an Electrical Change Order if there are changes or additions you made with the electrician.

                8

                ORGANIZE YOUR SERVICES FOR MOVE-IN

Your home is almost complete, this is a good time to make the necessary and important phone calls to ensure you are up and running the day you settle. During this time, you will want to set up services such as phone, cable, mail, electric, water, sewer, trash, gas, etc. by transferring ownership to your name.

                  9

                  LEARN ABOUT YOUR NEW HOME

It’s time to get acquainted with the various features and operating systems now that your home is complete. Known as your final walk-through, your site supervisor will guide you through each room taking time to explain all the components, and answer any questions you may have. You will also meet Denise Fluehr our Customer Service Representative. Denise will review your responsibilities for maintenance and upkeep as well as review warranty coverages. She will also give you a set of keys and the Cedar Knoll Homeowner Manual which helps you maintain all these necessary details in one handy location.

                    10
